Mary Mae Egger, 79, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus surrounded by her family. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Patrick Sparling officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Monday at 10:45 AM, at the church.



In lieu of flowers, stones, etc., memorials are suggested to be made to the family for future designation. Mary was born August 8, 1945, in Polk County, Nebraska, to Oscar and Ema (Kohl) Person.

Mary was united in marriage to Robert (Bubba) Egger on June 29, 1973, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. To this union their daughter Amy was born. Mary's greatest joy was attending her grandchildren's many events and spending time with them.

In 2021 Mary moved to an apartment building where she met many new friends. During this time, she spent many enjoyable hours with this special group that included crafting, diamond dots, bingo, and watching many sporting events together as well as many other activities. She especially enjoyed having lunch daily at the senior center.

Earlier this summer she was able to travel to Branson, Missouri, with her friends and their favorite Elvis impersonator. Mary was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mary is survived by: Daughter – Amy (Kory) Nelson of Columbus, NE, Grandchildren: Kade (Paige Jeffryes) Nelson, Ian (Nicole Lakin) Nelson and Drue Nelson, Sister-in-law - Katherine Bell, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by: Parents – Oscar and Emma Person, Husband – Robert Egger, Parents in law - Elmer and Elva Egger, Brother – Don Person, Sister-in-law – Loretta Person, and Brother-in-law - Richard Bell. Condolences may be sent to www.gasshaney.
