Mary Berry’s ‘impressive’ apple and pear tart is ‘very quick’ to make - only 6 ingredients

A delicious tart can be hard to perfect, but Mary Berry's recipe couldn't be easier to follow.

Tarts can be made with many different fillings and are easy to prepare, making them a great option for winter gatherings. Mary Berry’s “impressive” apple tart is “very quick” to make, according to the recipe instructions. They added: “With a block of ready-made puff pastry on standby, you’ll have this easy dessert on the table in no time.

” This recipe serves six people and will be ready from start to finish in under one hour. What’s more, the tart can be assembled up to three hours ahead of baking , if needed. Ingredients: 200g Bramley apples, peeled, cored and roughly diced Two ripe pears, peeled, cored and roughly diced Four heaped tablespoons of lemon curd 500g ready-made puff pastry One free-range egg, beaten 30g demerara sugar Method: Start by preheating the oven to 220C/200C Fan and place a baking tray into the oven to heat.



Measure the diced apples and pears into a bowl before adding the lemon curd and mixing well to coat the fruit. Roll out the pastry on a floured work surface into a circle and use a sharp knife to trim to a diameter of around 33cm, lifting the pastry onto a sheet of baking paper. Tip the apple and pear mixture into the centre of the pastry, spreading it out slightly, leaving a 7.

5cm border around the edge. Brush the edge of the pastry with the beaten egg, then fold the pastry over and twist to make a border. Push it together to make sides before brushing the sides with more beaten egg, sprinkling the demerara sugar all over the fruit and edges of the pastry.

Lift the baking paper carefully onto the hot baking tray and bake for around 35 to 40 minutes, until golden and crisp. Sprinkle with icing sugar before serving on its own or with a dollop of cream or ice cream..
