Another weekend, another round of Marvel rumors have floated online. This one ties to “Blade,” the long troubled production which is still in search of a director following Yann Demange’s exit. The film was pulled from its November 2025 release and hasn’t set a new date yet – and probably won’t until it sets a production start as well.
Today, scooper says that Oscar winner Mahershala Ali reportedly “likes the new draft” of the “Blade” script and “they’re close to finding a director” for the project. More importantly though, he says the film is the only one in development that’s close to going before the cameras – everything else is either too early or has already set filming windows: “It’s the MCU film most likely to go into production next year with nothing else as close. So aside from the ones we already have (“Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts*,” “The Fantastic Four”) it seems like “Spider-Man 4” and “Blade” are all that’s left for this [Multiverse] saga, other than the Avengers films”.
For now, Marvel has “Avengers: Doomsday” opening May 1st 2026 and “Spider-Man 4” on July 24th 2026. Two dates are set aside for untitled MCU films in February 2026 and November 2026. One of those will very likely go to “Blade,” and the unless they get something into production quickly next year, then “Blade” will take the November 2026 slot and the February placeholder will be ditched altogether as nothing else will be ready in time.
That would make the fourth Spidey and “Blade” the only films between the two new “Avengers” titles. The former is expected to be a multiversal title while the latter will potentially be a standalone work telling a self-contained story..
