Read More Maruti continues to be a trusted name in Indian households. The company offers cars that strike the perfect balance between affordability and value for money. Among its fleet, one model stands out for its consistent popularity — the Maruti Suzuki WagonR.

Selling an impressive average of 500 units per day, the WagonR has once again topped the charts. With 1,98,451 units sold in FY25, the hatchback has retained its title as the country’s best-selling vehicle for the fourth year in a row. The numbers show how much people adore the hatchback because of its roomy yet cosy cabin and simple demeanour.

Maruti Suzuki’s robust after-sales service network and economical powertrains have made the WagonR a reliable option for Indian buyers. “WagonR’s sustained leadership in the Indian automotive market underscores strong customer trust and an unmatched value proposition over 25 years," said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, as per a press release, while commenting on this achievement. “Our focus on innovation and customer-centricity has ensured that the WagonR remains a top choice for Indian families.

In fact, 1 in every 4 WagonR customers returns to repurchase India’s highest-selling car, a reflection of its widespread appeal and the confidence our customers place in the brand," Banerjee added. It’s been just over 25 years since the Maruti WagonR made its debut in 1999, and the iconic hatchback continues to hold its ground. Still one of the most budget-friendly and value-driven models in Maruti’s lineup, the WagonR has earned a reputation for being practical and dependable.

Its strong fuel efficiency, low running costs, and overall reliability have also made it a go-to choice for taxi services like Uber, Ola, and several others across the country. While the WagonR may not boast a long list of high-end features, it covers all the essentials that matter. Inside, it offers a spacious cabin, steering-mounted controls, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and electrically adjustable ORVMs.

Under the hood, the WagonR is available with two engine options — a 1.2-litre petrol engine (89 bhp, 113 Nm) and a 1.0-litre petrol unit (66 bhp, 89 Nm), which also comes with a CNG variant (56 bhp, 82.

1 Nm). Both engines can be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT. The WagonR is priced between Rs 5.
