Maruti Suzuki sold a record number of 18,785 units of the Ertiga in Oct 2024, hence making it India’s best-selling product during this month Maruti Suzuki has been the undisputed leader of the Indian automobile market for more than three decades. The company has always clocked monthly sales over 1 lakh units in the domestic market. Several of its cars such as Swift, Baleno, Alto and Brezza have been ruling the roost in their respective segments.

Talking of the Oct 2024 sales chart, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,59,591 units in India as compared to 1,68,407 units sold in Oct 2023. Hence, registering a slight de-growth of 5 per cent. Though the brand had a gain of 10 per cent over Sep 2024 sales.



The model-wise data analysis reveals that the Ertiga was the country’s best-selling car in Oct 2024 with a total of 18,785 units (YOY growth – 32%) retailed in the domestic market. It was followed closely by Swift at second position with 17,539 units in Oct 2024 as compared to 20,598 units in Oct 2023. This dip in the YOY sales of Swift resulted in a de-growth of 15 per cent.

The Grand Vitara was not much behind with sales of 14,083 units which led to a staggering YOY growth of 30 percent. The Wagon R, Dzire and Eeco too breached the 10,000 sales milestone in Oct 2024.

Maruti Alto’s sales fell below the 10k mark in Oct 2024 and the small hatch had to stay content with 8,548 units with a YOY de-growth of 24 per cent. The XL6 and Jimny too witnessed a drop in sales by 25 percent and 35 percent with 3,285 and 1,211 units, respectively, sold in Oct 2024. Though Ignis recorded a growth of 12 per cent with 2,663 units sold as compared to 2,374 units sold in Oct 2023.

Maruti Suzuki sold only 659 units of the Ciaz which is due for a generational change to match the modern and up-market features of its rival sedans. Last but not least, the Invicto MPV registered YOY de-growth of 38 per cent in Oct 2024 with sales of merely 296 units.

In total, the festive season of Diwali in Oct 2024 didn’t reap high dividends for the country’s biggest automaker but somehow it managed to hang on due to the strong response for the likes of Ertiga, Brezza, Fronx and Grand Vitara..
