Tesco Clubcard holders need to be aware that they could stand to miss out on some serious savings if they don't take action as soon as possible. Across the UK 16.8 million of us are the proud holder of a Tesco Clubcard, which gives you access to lower prices on some products at the supermarket and helps you build up points, which in turn gets you vouchers.
However, the Money Saving Experts - Martin Lewis's website - have warned that many people stand to lose out on savings, with many vouchers due to expire at the end of November. It's seriously easy to check if you have any vouchers linked to your clubcard that are due to run out - generally, they are only valid for two years after they have been issued. All you have to do is log in to your account - either on the Tesco app or the Clubcard website.
If you're checking on the website, navigate to 'Clubcard account' and then choose 'vouchers' from the options available. However, you will need to know your Clubcard number, which is written on the physical cards and key fobs Tesco provides. From here you should be able to see if you have any vouchers that are on the brink of expiring, and can put them to work before they run out - saving you some of your hard-earned money.
On the Tesco app, you need to select 'Clubcard' and then 'vouchers' to see which ones you have linked to your account. If you have paper vouchers, the expiry date will be printed on them, so you can see if they are due to expire. The Money Saving Experts also point out that you can double the value of your vouchers through a simple trick: using them at Tesco's Reward Partners instead.
"You can double the value of your vouchers by spending them at Tesco's Reward Partners, such as Disney+, Legoland, and Pizza Express. For example, 500 points are usually worth £5 to spend at Tesco – but if you exchange your vouchers for codes to use with a Reward Partner, 500 points are worth £10," the experts explain. Finally, if your vouchers are due to expire and you want to try and keep them because you don't need them just now - you can try this nifty trick to extend their life.
To do this you need to head to the Clubcard rewards page - it won't work in store or on the normal Tesco website. Then make the smallest possible purchase you can - say 50p - or opt to donate a little bit of money from your voucher to one of the charities the company has partnered with. "The remaining balance is credited back to your Clubcard account as points.
So if you spend 50p using a £5 Clubcard voucher, you'll get 450 points back (worth £4.50)," the experts explain, meaning that the majority value of your voucher now has a new two-year expiry date. However, it's important to note that the terms and conditions of a Clubcard mean if they think you are trying to manipulate the system, they can refuse to put your order through, the experts explain.
