Hyderabad: Malkajgiri police booked a father-and-son duo for misleading a family with regard to marriage by making false claims. When exposed, the duo threatened the complainant, a retired employee. On the basis of a complaint, police booked Ravi Teja and his son Harsha Vardhan for cheating, criminal intimidation and intentional insult.

The complainant, police said, was a 60-year-old retired employee who had arranged the marriage of his daughter, a MS final year student, with Harsha Vardhan. The engagement was performed in December last. The family was told that Harsha Vardhan had completed his MTech and was doing business and earning `12 lakh per month.



Ravi Teja posed as a senior police official in the office of the AP Chief Minister. However, the victim’s family later learnt that the claims were fake and called off the wedding. At this, police said, Ravi Teja and Harsha Vardhan went to the complainant’s house in West Godavari, threatened him and attempted to encroach on his agricultural land.

They also abused the family members and allegedly threatened that they would file a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the family. Doctor Waylaid in Warangal Hyderabad :Unidentified persons waylaid a car in which a medical practitioner, Dr Gade Siddhartha Reddy, was travelling and assaulted him with iron rods and lethal weapons in Warangal district on Thursday. The gang, that came on bikes, stopped Dr Reddy’s car when it reached the Battupally-Warangal stretch and picked upon an argument with him.

Later, the gang assaulted the doctor with iron rods. It was also reported that the assailants snatched the mobile phone from the victim and drove away. The victim fell to the ground.

Passerby who witnessed the attack called the police who reached the spot and shifted Dr Reddy to a hospital for treatment. Police booked a case of attempt to murder and began investigations..
