Mark Zuckerberg has shared the reason why he shut down his seven-year-old daughter's Taylor Swift dream. During an appearance on Acquired Podcast, Zuckerberg revealed his daughter, August, is a devoted Swiftie. It's not surprising news — the Facebook founder and his family were spotted having the time of their lives at the Eras Tour last year — but it turns out his seven-year-old was really impressed by the singer.

Zuckerberg explained: "We took her to a Taylor Swift concert and she was like, 'You know Dad, I kind of want to be like Taylor Swift when I grow up.'" However, her dad told her: "You can't. That's not available to you.

" "She thought about it and she's like, 'Alright when I grow up I want people to want to be like August Chan Zuckerberg,'" he explained "And I was like, 'Hell yeah. Hell yeah.'" Zuckerberg made the comments during a conversation in which he was asked to share advice "for founders today on something that's different than trying to pattern match Mark Zuckerberg from 2004 given we live in a different world .

" Reacting to the conversation online, Swifties were quick to debate Zuckerberg's answer. Responding to a fan who said, "One does not simply quash dreams like that," a second replied: "I don’t think he meant to quash anything, his point was that there is only one Taylor Swift, and his daughter has to find her own path." Another agreed: "It sounds like it was more of a 'be the best version of yourself, don't try to be someone else' conversation.

" Meanwhile, someone suggested: "I think he worded it poorly (quite poorly) but his intentions were good, and her response was awesome.".
