BOULDER, CO - Unio, the gaming development studio, announced on January 30 the appointment of industry giant Mark Long as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. The company is spearheading the Franchise as a service model for gaming through its first franchise, the Unioverse — a sci-fi epic that will span video games, comic books, novels, and more. He replaced Tony Harman, who will continue to serve an active role on the company's advisory board.
Mark Long brings 28 years of gaming industry experience to Unio, having previously served as the CEO of Neon Machine, the company behind the highly anticipated blockchain-based first-person shooter game SHRAPNEL. Mark is also the former head of Xcloud at Microsoft and publishing at HBO Interactive. Having produced over 32 titles on every platform from SEGA Genesis to Oculus Rift, his extensive background in the gaming industry and expertise in blockchain technology make him an ideal fit to lead Unio into its next phase of growth and innovation.
A New Chapter for Unio Long’s presence will steward Unio, previously known as Random Games, as it goes to market with its groundbreaking “Franchise as a Service” model. The Universe, an original sci-fi epic created by a team of world-class designers and storytellers, aims to span multiple interactive storytelling genres such as videogames, comics, books, and more while actively inviting and equipping audiences to create their own games, items, experiences, and stories.
