Mark Harmon to make NCIS return in spin-off

NCIS spin-off NCIS: Origins will see the return of Mark Harmon as Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

While it was previously announced that Harmon would return as older Gibbs to narrate the series, NCIS: Origins co-showrunner David J North has now confirmed that he will also make a brief appearance in the pilot episode.

"That was a discussion between Mark, myself and [co-showrunner] Gina Monreal," North said during a recent NCIS panel discussion (via ). "I hope the audience will be excited to see him after so many years." While North didn't confirm how Harmon will show up in the episode, he did leave the door open for more possible appearances in future episodes.



"We are focusing on him telling the story of 1991," he said. "As far as Mark appearing again, we are open to anything." In addition to Stowell as the lead character and Harmon's cameo as the older version, other NCIS: Origins cast members include Caleb Foote, , Tyla Abercrumbie, and .
