Mark Bain: Sinn Féin might want to move on from the IRA but not everyone is ready to forget

When Michelle O’Neill made history earlier this year by becoming the first nationalist First Minister in Northern Ireland’s history, a big play was made about being a ‘First Minister for all’. It was a statement that suggested everyone would move on together, whatever baggage they had to carry. Leaving behind that baggage we don’t wish to carry any more is not an option on the table.
