The wintry weather will be a distant memory on Thursday as the UK basks in a mini- heatwave , with temperature highs reaching 19C. From Somerset to Lancashire, a blanket of relatively hot weather for this time of year will see the mercury above 17C tomorrow afternoon, as double digits are seen across the country on weather maps from the BBC . The southeast of England will see the hottest temperature as the capital reaches 19C at 3pm.

A band stretching from London to Worcestershire will see 18C mid-afternoon, with Devon and Somerset skyrocketing to a warm 16-17C. The southwest of England will remain well above mild too as Cornwall reaches 15C. Devon can expect a similar feel with certain towns soaring up to 16C and 17C too.

The line from Birmingham up to Manchester will climb up to 17C at 3pm, with the majority of Wales basking in a warm 17C too. The north of England will be comfortably in double figure temperatures as well, as figures from 14-16C sweep the top of the country. In Scotland, a mild break from the snowy weather will see figures hovering around 12-13C, while Northern Ireland can expect similar figures.

The Met Office says the hot temperatures will be accompanied by "plenty of sunshines" after any early frost and fog in the morning clears. The warm feeling may be interrupted on occasion by a southeasterly breeze however, but this will be contained to the west of England. The sunshine is expected to continue into Friday and the weekend too, with the warmer feel also staying.

The Met Office ’s long range forecast predicts the end of March heading into April will see a changeable weather pattern. This will include many drier interludes, especially in the south. A greater chance of rain and showers can be expected in the north, yet temperatures will remain close to average overall.
