Image: Instagram/@manuelmasalva Manuel Masalva, best known for his role in the American TV series “Narcos: Mexico,” has been placed in a medically induced coma due to an “aggressive bacterial infection,” a few days after his vacation in Palawan. Masalva has remained in critical but stable condition while hospitalized in Dubai, as per a statement from his manager Jaime Jaramillo Espinosa to LA Times .
The actor had a trip in the Philippines before he flew and arrived in Dubai last March 18. “[After] about two days in Dubai, Masalva began to feel internal discomfort and pain which increased by the day,” Espinosa was quoted as saying. Masalva then underwent emergency surgery after the doctors discovered the bacterial infection, and had to be put into a medically induced coma on March 27 after the infection reached his lungs.
“The doctors were able to identify the type of bacteria and administer the appropriate antibiotic he needs. On the other hand, his respirator was lowered to 80%, which means that his lungs are reacting,” Espinosa noted.
