As per reports, the actor had decided to leave Mumbai due to disappointment. However, Manoj Kumar helped bring Amitabh Bachchan’s career back on track.
He decided to give him a chance and offered Amitabh Bachchan an opportunity to work with him in Roti Kapada Aur Makaan (1974). It proved to be a blockbuster at the box office. Later, Manoj Kumar said in an interview, “Even when people were taunting Amitabh for his failures, I had full faith in him that he would become a big star one day.
" Eventually, this statement of Manoj Kumar came true, and Amitabh Bachchan is now a megastar of the industry and has been ruling the entertainment world for over five decades. Meanwhile, on Friday, veteran Indian actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar passed away at the age of 87. The actor breathed his last at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.
Manoj Kumar was known for acting in and directing films with patriotic themes. Some of Manoj Kumar’s popular works include Shaheed (1965), Upkar (1967), Purab Aur Paschim (1970), and Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974). Because of his association with such movies, the actor was also widely called “Bharat Kumar".
Manoj Kumar’s son, Kunal Goswami, also confirmed the news of the actor’s death and revealed that the final rites will take place tomorrow..
