Manmohan Singh NEW DELHI: Recalling his association with former PM Manmohan Singh , who was teaching in Delhi School of Economics when he was a student, the PM's principal secretary P K Mishra said the country had lost a "very distinguished leader , an eminent economist and a great human being". "My memories of Manmohan Singh date back to the time when he was teaching at Delhi School of Economics. I was in my MA first year those days.

Seeing him among the stalwart professors in that era was reassuring for a student like me, having come from Sambalpur in western Odisha," Mishra said. He said during those days, very eminent professors such as Amartya Sen, Mrinal Datta Chaudhuri, A M Khusro, K N Raj, Sukhamoy Chakraborty, Dharma Kumar and others taught in D School. "Singh had a remarkable ability to explain complex topics in international trade in a way every student could understand, making learning easier for students.



He was extremely unassuming and low profile," he said. Mishra worked as secretary to National Disaster Management Authority and agriculture secretary during Singh's tenure as PM.
