Man who died Monroe County apartment fire identified

A 68-year-old man found dead Sunday following an apartment fire in Monroe County was identified Wednesday. The death of John Stoneking, of Smithfield, was ruled an accident caused by thermal injuries and inhalation of products of combustion, according to autopsy results released Wednesday by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office. Flames ignited just after 5 p.

m. at the building along Poco Lane in Smithfield Township , according to Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Anthony Petroski III, public information officer for Troop N. Two other people inside suffered from burn injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment, he said.
