Manchester United star Amad Diallo has earned the attention of Alan Shearer after his stellar performance against Everton , which also saw him gain praise from Ruben Amorim . The 22-year-old was voted as man of the match after the Red Devils easily dispatched Sean Dyche's 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday (December 1). In Amorim's first Premier League win as United boss, Amad earned two assists with Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both bagging braces to move the club up to ninth in the table.
While the Ivory Coast international wasn't on the scoresheet, his all-around performance saw him claim 70% of the vote for man of the match on United's official website. Discussing his performance when speaking on Match of the Day, Amorim made sure to praise Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy for his help in developing the winger which he's now reaping the rewards of . "He is really big in talent, but small in size," the Portuguese boss said about Amad.
"He did a great job but he is also has to improve. He is a great moment. Ruud van Nistelrooy helped him a lot in his games in charge and now he's helping me.
" Amorim wasn't the only one to speak on Amad's uptick in form with Shearer commending the youngster for his performance at wing-back, a position he's never played in his career before the arrival of the ex-Sporting CP boss. Speaking on 'The Rest Is Football' podcast, the Newcastle United legend said: "Amad Diallo was absolutely outstanding on the right-hand side. He was fantastic – player of the match.
He was a constant threat. His work-rate, his attitude, his understanding of what his manager wants from him in that position is brilliant." Having played 90 minutes in three consecutive Premier League games for the first time in his career, Amad is so far proving himself to be a key player for Amorim who urged him to continue his consistency on the pitch.
United have unveiled their new adidas home kit with new front-of-shirt sponsors for the 2024/25 season - and you can get your hands on it right now . "He was really good defending and really good attacking so he has to continue to play like that. You could feel it in the end of the game he was really, really tired so we have to manage that and increase his physical ability," he added.
"I’d like to take credit for [his pressing], but that’s him. He’s like that. He’s smart.
He’s explosive." Amorim will face the biggest test of his young United career on Wednesday (December 4) when they travel to take on second-placed Arsenal . Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
