Manchester United have reportedly been offered Dusan Vlahovic in exchange for Joshua Zirkzee. Juventus hold an interest in Zirkzee and they could use Vlahovic, who has only 18 months left to run on his contract, to tempt United into doing business. Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim says he wants the Dutchman to stay at Old Trafford, but a frustrating few months in the Premier League could see him sent back to the familiar surroundings of Serie A.
According to talkSPORT , Juve are prepared to use Vlahovic in part-exchange if it helps them get a deal for Zirkzee done before the end of the month. Vlahovic is a proven goalscorer with seven in Serie A this season and four more in the Champions League. Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on him over the past few years, and they were hot on his heels before Juve signed him for a reported £66million in 2022.
The 24-year-old hit 49 goals in 108 games for Fiorentina, and he has followed that up with 53 in 124 for the Bianconeri. He also boasts a strong record at international level with Serbia. Vlahovic would be a strong contender to go straight into United's starting line-up given Rasmus Hojlund 's struggles this season.
The Dane has managed only two goals in nearly 1,000 minutes of Premier League action, with Zirkzee getting three. United are in desperate need of quality through the middle. And despite their impressive 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Sunday, they still have one of the worst attacking records in the English top flight with 23 goals scored in 20 matches.
Zirkzee excelled in Serie A with Bologna last season and Juve are evidently confident he could recreate that form with a fresh start. The 23-year-old completed a £36.5m move to Old Trafford in July but he has only started seven Premier League games and been largely unconvincing when called upon.
He suffered the embarrassment of being hauled off and sarcastically cheered by fans after just 33 minutes against Newcastle last week, before making a beeline for the tunnel. Amorim gave mixed signals when asked about Zirkzee's future at the weekend. "I want to keep Zirkzee because he gives everything," said the Portuguese.
"He is trying in training but we don't know, the window is open. We will see what happens.".
