Manchester United's interest in Alphonso Davies is growing as his contract at Bayern Munich continues to wind down. So far the Canadian hasn't signed a new deal and it is looking more and more likely that he may seek pastures new. Real Madrid hold a long-term interest in the player, but could now face competition from the Red Devils, who have made enquiries with Davies' camp in recent months.

The full-back has made his wage demands known to the German giants , but they are not prepared to pay such sums which may leave them with no choice but to lose Davies, who has been at the club since 2018. Paying big wages is something United haven't struggled with in the past, although the new hierarchy are keen to change that perception. Nevertheless, for a star player they could make an exception, especially as Davies will command no transfer fee come the summer.

Sky Sports Deutschland reports that they've been gathering information on the player. Left-back also remains a problem position for the Manchester outfit with their first choice in that area, Luke Shaw , often finding himself sidelined. Davies would be a world -class replacement who has proven himself at the elite level, previously winning the Champions League .

Real are waiting in the wings and can negotiate with the Canadian come the New Year. They were able to take advantage of the free market in the summer when they landed Kylian Mbappe without having to pay a transfer fee. Davies himself has attempted to put talk of his future to one side.

Bayern have provided him the platform to excel in European football and he has underlined his affection for the club, but stopped short of committing himself to the Bavarians. He said last month: “My full focus is on this team. I’m playing here for Bayern Munich now, and that’s what I’m concentrating on.

I want to win every game. That’s why I’m not thinking about it at the moment. Regardless of whether I stay or leave the club, I will always carry this club in my heart.

” “You’ll have to talk to my agent about that. My focus right now is on winning every game. I’m not thinking about the other topic at the moment.
