Ruben Amorim could have a transfer war chest to use this summer.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim could have a £200million budget to build his dynasty this summer, with the club set to sell a host of stars to raise funds. United remain on course for their worst-ever Premier League season, currently 13th in the table on just 38 points. Amorim is reportedly ready to react to their erratic campaign by sanctioning a huge squad overall.

The likes of Marcus Rashford , Jadon Sancho , Anthony and Tyrrell Malacia aren’t expected to be welcomed back into the fold after their loan spells expire, while Casemiro, Rasmus Hojlund , Andre Onana , Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo could also be sold. Club chiefs are said to be targeting a £200million windfall from the potential deals. Christian Eriksen is also set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

That would give Amorim the licence to bring in his own players. It would also rid the club of some of their highest earners and release more funds to utilise in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils have been heavily linked with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, with the Toffees reportedly wanting £70million for their key man.

Moves for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, who is said to be available for around £66m, and Ipswich No.9 Liam Delap, who has a £30m clause, have also been touted. Following Onana’s latest error-strewn display at Lyon on Thursday, speculation is also mounting over a bid for Parma keeper Zion Suzuki, with his club said to be valued at just under £40 by the Serie A club.

With money at his disposal, Amorim could end up with a formidable 25-man squad on his hands. Regulations would mean at least eight of those would have to have come through the club ranks, but Amorim has already proved his willingness to put faith in youth by playing 17-year-old forward Chido Obi. A club's Premier League squad can have a maximum of 25, with 17 of those permitted to be 'non-homegrown'.

A players is classed as homegrown if they have been registered with an English or Welsh club for at least three seasons before their 21st birthday. How strong the 2025/26 squad will also hinge on the outcome of United’s Europa League campaign. With no other route to European football possible, winning the competition would seal a place in the Champions League next season and make it easier for Amorim to persuade his top targets to join.
