A court in Narayanganj on Sunday sentenced a person to death in the case of murder of a woman and her pregnant daughter in 2022. At the same time the court fined him Tk one lakh in the case. Narayanganj Additional District and Sessions First Court Judge Umme Saraban Tahura's court announced the verdict in the afternoon.
The condemned convict was Al Zubair Swapneel, 28, hailed from Paikpara of the city. The court Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Advocate Abdur Rahim said on March 1, 2022, the victim Ruma Chakraborty and her pregnant daughter Ritu Chakraborty were hacked to death in a flat in the city. Police arrested Al Zubair Swapneel wearing gloves with a blood-stained sharp knife from the spot.
Later, Ruma Chakraborty's husband Ramprasad Chakraborty filed a case in this regard, the APP added. The court announced the verdict after the proceedings of the case. SR.
