Bengaluru: A peculiar theft incident unfolded around Thursday midnight at a multi-storey residential building in Ayappanagar near KR Puram, where a middle-aged man was caught on CCTV camera stealing shoes and sandals left outside the doors. The footage, which has since gone viral on the social media platform X, shows the man—wearing a monkey cap and carrying a gunny bag—jumping over the compound wall of the building at 12.20am.
He is seen collecting various pairs of footwear kept outside the flats before making his escape the same way he entered. Despite the incident being widely circulated online, no police complaint has been filed yet. "We've seen the footage shared on social media," a police officer said.
"But no one has filed a complaint. Once we receive it, we will initiate appropriate action." Residents of the area have expressed concern over the break-in, though the theft involved only footwear.
