A father-of-two was knocked unconscious and left with a bleed on the brain after colliding with a delivery driver on an e-bike in the city centre. Adil Elyas, from Hove, was crossing the road in Western Road, Brighton on Tuesday afternoon at roughly 3pm when the collision happened. Three eye witnesses told The Argus that they saw Adil fly into the air, flip over and hit his head against the road and watched as the delivery driver rode off.

The incident is said to have occurred in front of Taj the Grocer in Western Road (Image: Google Maps) One eye witness who knew Adil called the ambulance after she recognised him as he lay unconscious on the road. She said: "I saw him get hit by a delivery driver on an e-bike going at a really high speed.

"It was right in-front of Taj in Western Road. There was a bus parked to let passengers on, and it caused a bit of a blind spot, so when Adil went to cross the road he did not see the e-bike. "The lights were red too, so it made no sense for the delivery driver to be going at that speed.

" She added: "I didn't recognise him at first, but I saw a man laying on the floor with blood coming out of his mouth unconscious. "I shouted that I knew the man, and that someone needed to call an ambulance as soon as possible. "People were trying to get him to get up, but he was completely out and bleeding heavily.

"I was with my friend who was a nurse, and she took control of the situation and told no one to move him as he needed urgent medical attention." They said that police soon arrived at the scene and blocked the road to help with the incident as well as taking statements from witnesses. Adil is currently recovering in the A&E wing of Royal Sussex County Hospital where he awaits treatment and further diagnosis from a specialist.
