BINTULU: A man was killed by a crocodile which mauled him while he was fishing with a net in Sungai Nyigu yesterday.A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Centre said the body of David Gira, 49, was found by the search and rescue team at 2.32pm today, approximately 1.
8km from where he was reported missing."An examination of the victim's body revealed bite marks consistent with the reptile."Upon retrieval of the body, family members were called in for the identification process before it was handed over to the police for further action.
The body was later sent to the Bintulu Hospital Forensic Unit for examination and post-mortem.In the 5.30pm incident yesterday, the victim had gone fishing alone but failed to return home, prompting concern among family members who later reported his disappearance to the authorities.
