Man, his maid booked for Rs 14 lakh sextortion

Surat: A self-proclaimed social worker from Surat and his maid were booked for extortion following a complaint filed against them by a 35-year-old textile trader at the Varachha police station. The complainant named Pravin Bhalala and his maid, Daxa alias Divya. In 2015, Bhalala gave the victim's contact information to Divya, who allegedly sent him nude videos.

After luring him with the promise of sex, she took him to a hotel. Subsequently, a person posing as a police sub-inspector called the victim. Bhalala then offered to settle the matter with the police and took Rs 14 lakhs from the complainant to prevent an FIR from being filed.



The trader filed the complaint on Tuesday after learning that Bhalala was recently booked by Odisha police in a Rs six crore cybercrime case..
