Man held for attempting to murder wife by attacking with cement bricks in Hyderabad

A 32-year-old man was arrested for attempting to murder his wife by attacking her with cement bricks near a private hospital in Gachibowli on the night of April 1. The case came to light after the video of the attack went viral on social media platforms. A passerby, who witnessed the assault, filed a complaint with the police the next morning.

According to the police, the witness saw a man attempting to hurl cement bricks at a woman near a high-tension line in Raghavendra Colony around 10 p.m. of April 1.



When he tried to intervene, the accused allegedly turned on him as well, forcing him to flee and seek help. Unable to connect to Dial 100, he informed a nearby pan shop owner and later learnt from the hospital staff that the victim was Shabana Parveen, the wife of the accused, Md. Basharath.

“Shabana, 22, had been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment for gynaecological issues. She remains unconscious and in critical condition,” said the police. Basharath, an interior designer residing in Aditya Nagar, Miyapur, was arrested on April 2 at 9.

15 p.m. and produced before court the following day.
