A recent video from a crowded Delhi Metro train on the Blue Line near Janakpuri West has ignited a fiery discussion about public transport etiquette. The footage, recorded by a female passenger, captures a tense confrontation between a man and a group of women after he refused to give up his seat. The man wearing earphones and carrying a backpack, stood his ground despite mounting pressure, only vacating the seat when other male passengers intervened.
The incident unfolded when a woman asked the man to give up his seat, prompting a sarcastic retort from him. This led to a heated exchange, with one bystander urging him to "be the bigger person." A post shared by Pahadigirls (@pahadigirls12) The woman at the heart of the dispute responded by mocking him, but the man remained unmoved.
The video ends with him exiting the train, leaving the debate unresolved on board - but it quickly found new life online. Social media users have been divided, arguing over whether the man's action were justified. Some said that he is right in not relinquishing his seat for a woman citing gender equality.

Equality works both ways," one user commented on the video posted on Instagram. "First they need an entire women's coach in metro train, then they want particular seats that are marked in each coach, when nothing works they play the sympathy card and vacate seats of young men," another wrote. "When he is seated in an unreserved seat, it's totally up to him to give his seat to others.
Giving a seat merely because the person is a woman doesn't justify anything. Giving seats to disabled or senior citizens is still justified," said a third user. One user argued that it is "basic decency to give up a seat" for those who are in need.
