A Maryland man was found dead on a private beach in the Bahamas while vacationing with his family last weekend. Dinari McAlmont, 23, was found dead on the shore of Paradise Island near Nassau, Bahamas, on April 6, only about 12 hours after he had arrived on the island with his parents. The family was staying at a resort called The Reef at Atlantis for a weekend trip, People reported .

McAlmont left his parents during dinner to retrieve a jacket and never returned. His parents filed a missing person report hours later when they couldn’t track his location using their phones. The Royal Bahamas Police Force said during a news conference on Wednesday that the cause of death was drowning.

They added that they are still awaiting the results of a toxicology exam and that foul play is not suspected. McAlmont’s mother, Michelle McAlmont, however, strongly disagrees with the police ruling, saying that her son was beaten. “There is foul play,” she said to FOX 5.

“Because of all the bruises and you can see when somebody is abused and hit at, yes, and that is why I am saying that.” “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our guests,” the resort said to Fox News in a statement. “Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

We are fully cooperating with the authorities as they conduct their investigation.” Stories by Chris Mautner Frito-Lay chip recall upgraded to most severe FDA classification Penn State urges international students to carry copies of papers after some visas revoked Bausch + Lomb announces lenses recall: Here’s what to know $3M lottery scratch-off ticket sold in this Pa. county.
