Man dies following concern for welfare incident on M61 as police appeal for witnesses

Police have appealed for witnesses following the death of a man after a concern for welfare incident this morning.

A man has died in an incident on the M61, police have confirmed. Officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare of a man on the M61 at 4.30am today, on the southbound carriageway at junction 6 (Middlebrook).

The closure was in place all day, with major delays on the M61 as traffic was halted. The man died as a result of the incident. Investigations are still ongoing although there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. “The Serious Collision Investigation Unit and Bolton CID are currently undertaking a joint investigation. “Officers are now appealing for any witnesses who may have been present in the area at the time to make a report to police.
