Man dies after being hit by van near Eglinton Interchange roundabout in Irvine

He was struck by a Peugeot Partner van with the 49-year-old driver uninjured.

Officers responded to the crash on the A78 near to the Eglinton Interchange in Irvine around 12.25am on Friday. A 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was struck by a Peugeot Partner van with the 49-year-old driver uninjured. Sergeant Brian Simpson from the road policing unit at Irvine said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time. “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.



“I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information that may assist our enquiry to contact us. “I would also ask anyone who was driving on the A78 around the time to review their footage and please contact us if it holds anything relevant. “Anyone with information is asked to contact quoting reference number 0029 of September 20, 2024.
