Man detained for claiming to get ‘supari’ of BJP MLA

Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Saturday detained an employee of a private firm after he called the police control room in the afternoon and said he got “supari” (contract) to kill the BJP’s Bhosari MLA , Mahesh Landge. The police swung into action after receiving the call and zeroed in on the man in the Bhosari MIDC area in the evening. “He was under the influence of alcohol when we traced him,” deputy commissioner of police (Zone-III) Shivaji Pawar of the Pimpri Chinchwad police told TOI.

A non-cognizable offence has been registered against the man, hailing from Jharkhand. “He has been staying in the Bhosari area for the past five years. He is a machine operator in a private company in the MIDC area,” Pawar said.



The officer said the man had called the control room number 112 on Saturday afternoon and informed the police that he had got the “supari” to kill the MLA. “We traced him and took him into custody within a few hours. The man is under detention.
