Man booked for use of wrong numberplate

Ludhiana: Division number 7 police booked a resident of Salempura for using the vehicle registration number plate of a truck on his vehicle. The matter came to the light when the traffic police issued a challan on the vehicle number near Vardhman Chowk, following which the truck owner received a text message. However, his truck was parked outside his house.

The truck owner, Dimple Singh of Sihala village, Samrala, filed a police complaint after which an FIR was lodged against the accused, Jagjit Singh of Salempura village, Koom Kalan. The complainant said that he received a text message on September 10 saying that his vehicle had been challaned for traffic violations near Vardhman Chowk, Chandigarh Road in Ludhiana. However, his truck had been parked at home that day and he had not gone out.
