Man booked for dowry death

Ludhiana: Sahnewal police arrested a man for dowry death and causing disappearance of the body of his wife, who died under mysterious circumstances. The accused told his wife’s parents that she died of snake bite and cremated the body without waiting for her parents to come from Bihar. The woman’s family reached Ludhiana and found that the last rites had been performed.

Suspecting foul play, they told the police that the man used to harass his wife for dowry and may have murdered her. A case has been filed against the accused, Chandan Singh , 29 of Kanaich village in Sahnewal. Chandan, who is originally from Bihar, lived in the city with his wife, Sapna , 27, and ran a grocery shop here.
