A 45-year-old man charged with the murder of his wife at a property in southern Queensland has had his case mentioned in court. Cameron Robert Hunt was on Tuesday charged with one count each of murder domestic violence offence and arson. Mr Hunt was arrested on Tuesday evening after he was located an address in Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, before he was taken to the Toowoomba Police Station.
Emergency services were called to a fire at a Strack Road home on Tuesday. They arrived to find the residence fully engulfed in flames. Police said two children at the property at the time of the fire were safe and well.
Mr Hunt did not appear during the hearing in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court and remained at the police watchhouse. Magistrate Kyna Morice told the court due to the nature of the charges "there will be reports that will take significant amount of time". The case has been adjourned for three months for police to prepare a brief of evidence.
Mr Hunt was remanded in custody and is due to return to court on July 16 for further mention. ABC Southern Qld — local news in your inbox.
