A man has been arrested after allegedly holding an Aiken woman at gunpoint. Aiken Public Safety officers arrested James K. Harmon, 47, Sept. 15 according to an incident report filed by N.H. Rogers.

A woman said she was in her kitchen when she heard her dogs barking at the front of her Hickory Road home and went to see at what they were barking, Rogers wrote. Officers located the man crouched behind equipment in a storage area and arrested him, Rogers added. Harmon faces charges of pointing and presenting a firearm at another person, first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Pointing and presenting a firearm at another person is a felony. It is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a fine in the discretion of the court.

First-degree burglary is also a felony. It is punishable by between 15 years and life in prison. Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime is also a felony.

If convicted, a person faces an additional five years in prison unless the person is sentenced to death or life in prison. An Aiken County magistrate denied Harmon a bond. No further court dates have been set.
