Emergency services were called at around 11pm last night (April 15) to a report of a road traffic accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the A590 between Haverthwaite and Backbarrow. A 55-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention. He has since been released under investigation while police enquiries continue.
The pedestrian, a man, suffered serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: " Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.
