The number of council high-earners paid more than £100,000 a year has been revealed in the annual Town Hall Rich List by the Taxpayers Alliance. The list looks at how many local authority employees across the UK are paid more than £100,000 a year. Maldon District Council, which says it has changed the structure of the organisation since the report data was produced, had two members on the 2025 list – directors Richard Holmes and Paul Dodson, who both earned £121,000.

A spokesman for Maldon District Council said: "We consider that the published salaries and remuneration recognises the significant responsibilities shouldered by our senior team, which are both multifaceted and demanding."
