Replicate one of Greggs' most popular festive treats for the ultimate Christmas meal One of the real charms of Christmas is the wide range of festive recipes that comes with the season. You'd struggle to find any eatery or food outlet not dishing up both sweet and savoury festive delights. Yet, one enthusiast has gone above and beyond by reconstructing a Yuletide classic: the Greggs Festive Bake.

Nutrition expert Molly Cunningham has demonstrated how to craft a healthier version of this beloved treat, packed with an impressive 65g of protein. The cherry on top? This recipe can be cooked in a slow cooker, allowing it to simmer to perfection while you're tackling the rest of your Christmas tasks. Greggs has introduced enticing items this year, such as their stuffed Festive Bake, a Christmas Lunch Baguette, a Spicy Veg Bake Pie, a Vegan Turkey-Free Baguette, and a Festive Soup.

Molly's reinvention captures all the seasonal joys found in Greggs' flagship festive offering, reports the Daily Record . But why stop at just one bake? Molly has transformed her creation into a grand communal feast. She said: "Yesterday the festive bakes were back at Greggs so I had to pick one up for Liam as they're his favourite! I wanted to create a bigger version we could enjoy for dinner to get us feeling festive!" Molly shared her culinary adventure, saying: "The Greggs Festive Bake was finally back yesterday, so to celebrate, I decided to create a giant version completely in the slow cooker.

I tried to keep in all the flavours and consistency of a normal Festive Bake with the addition of a sneaky vegetable and over 50 grams of protein." Greggs enthusiasts were left in awe of Molly's inventive dish, with one fan exclaiming: "I urge everyone to make this I made it last Sunday and it served me Sunday and my lunches until Thursday it was yummmmmy." Rachael commented: "Made this last night!! YUMMM! And easy to do.

I swapped the pastry for a hotpot style slice potato top, will be making again!" Another added their anticipation: "My husband is going to LOVE this," while @emmybeany shared: "I've made this today. It was delicious and I'll be making it again for sure." One more satisfied foodie raved: "10/10! I can't believe how amazing this is! It's going to feed both me and @thewitchtree for three days, and tastes absolutely out of this world! I can't wait to make it again.

" For those who are fans of Greggs and fancy replicating the beloved Christmas treat at home, here's what you need to get started. Greggs Inspired Festive Bake Pie Ingredients 2 large chicken breast 4 bacon medallions 100g dry stuffing mix 1 large leek, chopped 2 tbsp garlic granules 2 tbsp mixed herbs, plus extra to sprinkle on top of pastry 260ml chicken stock Water Puff pastry 2 tbsp crème fraiche Cranberry sauce Method Begin by dicing your chicken and tossing it into the slow cooker along with bacon, dry stuffing mix, leeks, garlic granules, mixed herbs, and chicken stock, then give it a good stir. Set your cooker on high for three hours or low for six to seven.

Aim to stir midway to avoid the stuffing from clumping together. If your stuffing mix begins to thicken excessively, simply add a smidgen of water and stir to loosen it up, but be careful not to overdo it as you'll be incorporating creme fraiche later and you don't want it too runny. When it's time to dish up, blend in your light creme fraiche and spoon in about six small dollops of cranberry sauce, ensuring it's evenly spread throughout.

Use the lid of your slow cooker to shape your pastry before placing it atop your slow cooker, then brush with an egg wash and sprinkle some mixed herbs over it. Finally, bake it in the oven at 200 °C for roughly 20 minutes or until it achieves a golden brown hue. Serve up and savour every bite.
