Ham sandwiches are a staple for lunch time, but packets of good-quality supermarket sliced ham can often be increasingly more expensive. Recipe developer Amy Sheppard shared her sumptuous recipe for an air fryer ham which can make your money go further. In a recent TikTok video she revealed her recipe for an air fryer ham doused in a honey mustard sauce which she slices up to feed the family.
Commenting on the price for ham in shop, she usays she ses this recipe as a way to enjoy a meal before saving the rest for leftovers in the following days. She said: “We love a bit of sliced ham in our house but it’s got really expensive. It’s usually like £3 to £4 for around five slices, which lasts us less than a day.
So on a Sunday I love to cook a whole gammon joint in the air fryer. It is so much cheaper and it has so much more flavour.” An enthusiastic fan of the air fryer, Amy has sworn by its ability to cook up joints of meat just as good as traditional methods.
She also revealed in the comments section that the reason she uses an unsmoked joint is due the difference in salt content between. She explained: “You have to soak smoked in water to remove the salt..
.I find unsmoked the perfect amount of salty flavour!” So if you’re looking for your next air fryer meal, this is how you can replicate Amy’s recipe at home. Ingredients 750g unsmoked gammon joint 2 tsp Dijon mustard 2 tbsp honey Salt and pepper to taste Method Score the fat on top of the unsmoked gammon joint.
Wrap the joint loosely in tin foil, so the foil doesn't touch the fat or it will stick Cook on 170C for 35 minutes in the air fryer, then remove the foil. Mix the dijon mustard and the honey, before seasoning with salt and pepper. Spread this over the ham.
Return the ham uncovered to the air fryer for 22 minutes. Once time is up, check the gammon to make sure it's cooked through. Leave to cool before slicing.
