Brussels sprouts are one of the most divisive Christmas dishes around. Much like Marmite, you either love them or hate them. However, you don’t have to have them just plain boiled year after year, there are plenty of other ways to doll them up.

One food fan shared how you can completely transform the vegetable’s texture and flavour with just a few added ingredients. Emily, known as Emily’s Cooking on TikTok , showed off her pimped up Brussels sprouts recipe. By simply crushing the veg and adding some butter and parmesan, she’s left with a golden, crunchy and completely unrecognizable dish.

In a video from November, she wrote: “Golden, crispy, cheesy and just so tasty! A new way to make your Brussels sprouts this Christmas, have it as a side or snack, you won't be disappointed. You can also add bacon to it, check my previous video! What you need - seasoning of your choice, Brussels sprouts, butter, grated parmesan and some baking paper!” You’ll need four ingredients in total, and if you’re looking to save some pennies on energy bills this crispy, Emily’s recipe can be completely made in the air fryer. Emily’s video has been watched over a massive five million times, racking up 222,200 likes and 479 comments.

Lindsey said: “Okay thank you for deciding what I’m bringing to Christmas for me.” Sofia wrote: “Ooooooh I love brussels sprouts. Never had them because of other people’s opinions.

But damn. I’ll eat a whole tray on my own.” Indya commented: “Oh my goodness, this is next level,” while another replied: “I made these and they were so delicious!! Adding to the Christmas dinner this year.

” @hwtopsecret said: “Wait no cause ...

how did you know that i all of the sudden like brussel sprouts???” However, some people still aren’t convinced by the vegetable, with @CescaInTheGarden saying: “Nope. Nothing in the world will make me eat those devil’s baubles. My mum has tried for over 40 years.

” Kate agreed: “I honestly don’t even think cheese can help Brussels sprouts.” If regular boiled Brussels sprouts just won’t cut it at the Christmas table this year, here is how you can completely transform them. Smashed Crispy Parmesan Brussels Sprouts Brussels sprouts Butter Grated parmesan Seasonings of your choice Clean and wash your Brussels sprouts.

Boil some water into a pot and add some salt. Add Brussels sprouts and boil until slightly soft. Run under cold water, drain and dry with a paper towel then leave to cool.

Add some butter to the baking paper and sprinkle some seasoning on the baking paper. Emily used a mix of oregano, garlic, pepper, salt, cumin, paprika and all purpose seasoning, chilli flakes and sesame seeds. Also add some grated parmesan.

Place the Brussels sprouts on top and smash it. Using something flat like the bottom of the glass. Add extra parmesan and seasoning.

Cook in the oven or air fryer at 185°C for about 20 to 30 minutes depending on how much you've cooked. You want to cook them so they are just slightly crispy and to your liking. Remove from the tray and add as a side with your roast dinner, on its own or as a side with any meal.
