Wing Makazole Mapimpi moved into a tie for third-place in the list of leading Springbok try-scorers following his brace against Scotland on Sunday. Mapimpi dotted down twice in the Springboks’ 32-15 win at Murrayfield in Edinburgh. He now boasts 32 tries in 46 Tests, equal on tries with Springbok great Jaque Fourie .
Fourie played 72 Tests before hanging up his boots. At 34 , Mapimpi doesn’t have time on his side to move much further up the list, but in the red-hot form he’s currently in, coach Rassie Erasmus may well include him in upcoming match-day squads. Meanwhile, Thomas du Toit scored his first ever Springbok try – in what was his 22nd Test – on Sunday, while Jasper Wiese also got his name on the try-scorers sheet for the second time in his 32nd Test.
