Makati Life Medical Center (MLMC) has been recognized as the "Integrated Healthcare Provider of the Year" at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025 held on Thursday, April 10.
The award, given by Singapore-based Healthcare Asia Magazine, a publication of Charlton Media Group, noted MLMC for its unique integration of comprehensive primary care in a hospital setting and its pioneering public-private partnership (PPP) with the Makati City government.The Healthcare Asia Awards celebrate healthcare organizations and projects demonstrating exceptional innovation, leadership, and commitment to enhanced patient care and advancements in medical science.Nominations are evaluated by a panel of healthcare and life sciences experts.
Previous awardees include entities from India, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Saudi Arabia.MLMC's care model combines private sector efficiency with public accessibility. Since the Makati Life Primary Care Center opened in May 2023, the hospital has provided a wide range of services, including consultations, diagnostics, treatments, specialty care, and follow-up services, often within a single visit.
The hospital reports serving over 800 patients daily, with 70 percent utilizing a structured appointment system, leading to reduced waiting times and improved care coordination.Under the PPP agreement, Life Nurture Inc., the private operator of MLMC, invested up to ₱10 billion for the hospital's completion, equipment, and operation.
The Makati City government provided the hospital structure and land. This partnership aims to ensure equitable access to high-quality care for all patients, regardless of their economic status or payment method, including those with Makati’s Yellow Card, private payers, and those with health insurance or HMO coverage.Dr.
Dennis Sta. Ana, President and CEO of Makati Life Medical Center, noted the hospital's commitment to equal treatment, stating, "Everyone receives the same dignity in care, no matter how they pay. We don’t draw lines between government-sponsored and private patients.
" He further added, "This model proves that it’s possible to build a healthcare system that is both inclusive and world-class."MLMC is designed as a digital-first smart hospital with the goal of achieving HIMSS certification. Its features include AI-driven ICU monitoring, a 24/7 outpatient department, electronic medical records, and real-time appointment scheduling.
The hospital has also implemented a "Human Experience" model focused on improving both patient care and staff well-being.The hospital is scheduled for a full launch this year, which will include specialized centers for surgery, cancer, heart, and critical care, offering advanced services such as robotic surgery and linear accelerators for cancer treatment.The Healthcare Asia Awards recognized MLMC for its holistic, scalable, and inclusive care model, highlighting its potential to influence the future of healthcare in the Philippines.
Dr. Sta. Ana described MLMC as "not just a hospital—it’s a healthcare movement," envisioning it as a model for an inclusive, innovative, and human-centered Philippine healthcare system.
