COMMUTERS in the capital are facing delays this morning following several crashes on busy roads. Drivers and public transport users have been warned to plan ahead of their journeys. Drivers on the N4 were facing delays after a collision occurred around 7.
10am this morning. The incident happened inbound just after the M50 flyover. Another crash on the M50 caused delays between Junction 6 Blanchardstown and Junction 7 Lucan at around 7am.
It occurred on the Westlink Bridge, southbound, in the right lane. Dublin City Council Traffic & Incident Management Centre warned the public on X of delays at the Dublin Tunnel Toll Plaza Southbound. They said: “Ongoing works at Dublin Tunnel Toll Plaza (Southbound) will result in traffic metering during the day.
“Max vehicle width 2.90m, height 4.65m, length 25m.
Drive with care, delays expected.” Commuters on public transport are also facing some delays. Transport for Ireland warned people of service disruptions with some Bus Eireann routes.
They said: “A quick reminder, please check the TFI Live App and 'Service Updates' section on Bus Éireann website for updates on service disruptions. “Bus Eireann regrets any inconvenience might be caused to the passengers.” The Drogheda to Dublin 101 8am service and the Dublin to Drogheda 101 10am services were both cancelled.
Services W1, W2 and CW2 are “operating with a reduced frequency until further notice”. THERE are some service disruptions to the bus service in the south region of the country today. Route 214 and Route 216 in Cork will operate on a diversion route due to roadworks on South Main Street and Sullivan’s Quay.
The bus will travel via Washington Street, Western Road, and Donovan’s Road from 7pm on Wednesday until 7am tomorrow morning. And the following bus stops will not be served while the diversion is in place: Those who are trying to access the services have been urged to go to bus stops on St. Patrick's Street, Washington Street/Western Road and Noonan’s Road.
In Skibbereen today, North Street and Market Street will be closed to traffic from 7pm, with normal service being in place before that time. From 7pm onwards, buses will be operating via the N71 relief Rd and passengers can board at the temporary stop near Hurleys Garage. There are also some disruption in the South Region on the routes 214, 216 and 237.
Some bus stops will not be served while the “diversion is in place”. Customers are urged to check the Bus Eireann website for details and updates. In total this year, 138 people have lost their lives on Irish roads.
This is compared to to a total of 144 deaths during the same period last year..
