BRAWLEY – Construction progress continues on San Diego State University (SDSU) Imperial Valley’s much-anticipated Sciences and Engineering Laboratories at its Brawley campus. Construction is on schedule, with the facility set to open in fall 2025.

Construction is on schedule, with the facility set to open in fall 2025. SDSU Imperial Valley said the project is a result of $80 million in state funding from Gov.

Gavin Newsom to expand sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) opportunities, tying into regional plans for major economic development as California’s “Lithium Valley.” The Sciences and Engineering Laboratories will house a STEM Innovation Hub for students and faculty to collaborate with one another, with the goal to establish and expand research opportunities. This new hub is one part of the university’s commitment to meet both current and future geothermal energy sector demands and deliver skilled professionals that are ready to dive into the workforce.
