My daughter wasn’t a full 24 hours old before she had a newborn baby check by a paediatrician. The doctor assessed her little legs and hips, then did it again. She said it was probably nothing, but she was going to refer her for an ultrasound, to be on the safe side, to check her hips were in the right position.

Eight weeks later, we were back in Dublin’s Holles Street for that ultrasound, and just two weeks after that my girl was in Temple Street being fitted for a little brace to gently nudge her hips into place..
