Mailon Kent wins Wildcat Invitational by one stroke over Mainland’s junior duo at LBI National Golf and Resort in Little Egg Harbor

Point Pleasant Boro senior Mailon Kent shot a 5-over-par 77, one shot better than Mainland’s junior duo of Patrick Hiltner and PJ Foley, to capture individual medalist honors at the Wildcat Invitational at LBI National Golf and Resort in Little Egg Harbor on Monday. The tournament was the first 18-hole stroke-play event on the Garden State’s high school calendar this season. Kent’s fellow teammates Ben Martorana and Jack Nolan, both sophomores, each shot 8-over-par 80s to tie for fourth.

He put in the time and the work and has turned himself into one of the best players in the Shore Conference,” said Point Pleasant Boro head coach Peter Casalino, who is in his 25th season at the helm. Kent will be attending Auburn University in the fall and may try to walk on to the golf team.



On the team side, Point Pleasant Boro (321) took home the team title by four strokes over Mainland (325). Toms River East (344) placed third, Paul VI (360) finished fourth and Lacey (362) rounded out the top five. The N.
