Mahindra to open XEV 9e, BE 6 EV bookings on 14 Feb; Chakan plant to make 1.2 lakh units annually

Mahindra will begin bookings for its Electric Origin SUVs, XEV 9e and BE 6, on 14 February. Prices start at ₹18.90 lakh, with deliveries from mid-March. The EVs offer multiple variants and colours.

Homegrown automaker Mahindra, on Wednesday, announced that bookings for its Electric Origin range of SUVs—the XEV 9e and BE 6—will open on 14 February. Customers will be able to reserve all battery pack options for these models, with deliveries scheduled to begin in mid-March and continue until August 2024. The BE 6 model will be priced between ₹ 18.

90 lakh and ₹ 26.90 lakh, while the XEV 9e will be available in the range of ₹ 21.90 lakh to ₹ 30.

This decision follows what the company described as an "overwhelming" response from customers. The production plan outlines specific timelines for each version, ensuring a structured rollout of the vehicles. As part of its commitment to electric mobility, Mahindra is investing over ₹ 12,000 crore into its EV business.

A key element of this investment is the establishment of a new manufacturing line at its Chakan plant in Maharashtra. This facility will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 lakh units, supporting the company's expansion in the electric vehicle segment.

Both the XEV 9e and BE 6 will be available in multiple colour options, including Everest White, Deep Forest, Tango Red, Desert Myst, Ruby Velvet, Firestorm Orange, and Stealth Black..
