The Election Commission of India (ECI) scheduled a meeting with the Indian National Congress (INC) on December 3 to address concerns raised over the recent Maharashtra election results. In its interim response, the ECI reiterated its commitment to a transparent electoral process, stating the involvement of candidates and their agents at every stage. The commission assured the INC that their concerns would be thoroughly reviewed, with a detailed written response following the meeting.

Addressing INC's allegations of discrepancies in voter turnout data, the ECI clarified that no inconsistencies exist. It explained that the gap between the 5 PM polling data and the final voter turnout figures is due to procedural requirements. ''Gap in 5 PM polling data and final voter turnout are due to procedural priorities, as presiding officers perform multiple statutory duties near close of poll before updating voter turnout data.

As an additional disclosure measure, ECI press note at around 11:45 PM was thus introduced during the 2024 General Elections and followed subsequently during all assembly elections thereafter,'' ECI stated in its interim response to Congress' allegations.
