NAGPUR: Senior MLA Bhaskar Jadhav on Saturday sharply criticised the Maharashtra government for its failure to allocate portfolios to 39 newly sworn-in ministers and for neglecting urgent issues such as farmer suicides , industrial stagnation , and a fake medicine racket. Speaking during the last week resolution in the legislative assembly, the Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA from Guhagar accused the government of disregarding the people’s needs while ministers without portfolios continue to benefit. Jadhav highlighted the ongoing agrarian crisis, revealing that more than 2,000 farmers have committed suicide since January 2023, pointing out the failure of the Mahayuti government’s promise to end farmer suicides.

“The government’s indifference has left farmers vulnerable to insurance scams, resulting in losses worth thousands of crores,” he alleged. He called for immediate reforms to combat corruption and ensure justice for farmers. The MLA also criticised the exodus of industries from Maharashtra, blaming the lack of industrial incentives for the migration to states like Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh.

“The government’s hollow announcements about bringing industries to Maharashtra have yielded no results. Instead, industries are moving away, leaving Maharashtra lagging behind at 13th rank nationally,” Jadhav said. He urged the government to implement concrete measures to attract investments and revive the state’s industrial sector.

Govt miserably failed to develop Mihan Questioning the status of MIHAN (Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur), Jadhav slammed the government for failing to develop infrastructure despite years of promises. “MIHAN remains a neglected project, with industries pulling out due to poor facilities. Even projects like the textile park in Amravati were mere election gimmicks,” he remarked.

He also demanded transparency regarding agreements worth Rs 1.5 lakh crore, claimed to have been signed at Davos. Jadhav did not spare the state government’s stalled plans for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s grand memorial in the Arabian Sea.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone in December 2016, but not a single brick has been laid despite spending hundreds of crores. The Maratha warrior deserves more than empty announcements,” he fumed. Addressing the alarming fake medicine racket, Jadhav alleged that unauthorized and counterfeit medicines were being supplied across the state, including in Kalmeshwar (Nagpur), Bhiwandi, and Nanded, risking public health.

He revealed that five companies involved were unregistered and accused a person named Chaudhary of operating bogus firms to distribute fake medicines. He concluded by urging the government to prioritise governance over rhetoric and take immediate action to address these pressing issues. Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India .
