PRAYAGRAJ : This Mahakumbh, the authorities of Kumbh Mela are aiming to set four world records at the world’s biggest religious gathering beginning on January 13. The Mela authorities’ proposed records include the largest synchronized sweeping drive, the largest e-vehicle parade, the most handprint paintings created in 8 hours, and the largest river-cleaning campaign. The records will be pursued in strict adherence to the standards and guidelines set by the Guinness Book of World Records.

To ensure this, a special team will be formed by the state authorities in coordination with the Prayagraj Mela Authority. This specially constituted team will communicate with Guinness World Records officials and meticulously oversee the accomplishment and monitoring of all required procedures and standards. ADM (Kumbh Mela) Vivek Chaturvedi told TOI that the first record will focus on the largest synchronized sweeping drive, with 15,000 participants coming together to carry out a coordinated cleaning effort.

This record aims to showcase the importance of cleanliness and environmental stewardship as core values of the world’s biggest religious and spiritual event. The drive also aims to amplify the message of collective responsibility in preserving the sanctity of the sacred gathering. He further adds, "The second record will showcase the largest e-vehicle parade, featuring a procession of 1,000 e-rickshaws and e-vehicles during Mahakumbh 2025 to turn the mela into an eco-friendly pilgrimage.

This initiative emphasizes Mahakumbh's commitment to sustainable transport solutions, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing last-mile connectivity." The third record will be a reattempt to create the most handprint paintings within 8 hours, involving 10,000 participants contributing their unique handprints. This record celebrates the beauty and spirit of Mahakumbh 2025, showcasing the diversity and unity of participants.

Each handprint symbolizes collective harmony and the shared values of the event. Moreover, the fourth record will be the largest river-cleaning drive, involving 300 volunteers across multiple locations to clean and preserve the holy rivers. It aims to demonstrate the world’s biggest religious and spiritual event’s dedication to ecological conservation and the spiritual bond with nature.

ADM, meanwhile, said, "A special team will be tasked to establish coordination with the Guinness World Records team to assist the Prayagraj Mela Authority in finalizing a contract with them. It will also provide support in interpreting the performance guidelines set by Guinness World Records for the shortlisted record categories, ensuring clarity and compliance for all participants." Besides, it will also develop a verification process for accurately recording participant numbers for each record attempt and prepare comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents detailing event plans, work steps, and process verification for each record category.

Moreover, the team will also coordinate with GWR to finalize the SOP, secure approval, and conduct a walkthrough of the finalized procedures. Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India . Don't miss daily games like Crossword , Sudoku , and Mini Crossword .
